WinWon Sponsors 2026 SUNYAC SAAC Retreat & Special Olympics

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - This past weekend, the SUNYAC hosted its annual Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) retreat in Syracuse. Student-athlete representatives from SUNYAC member institutions arrived Saturday night and headed back to their schools on Monday.
The retreat began with over 30 student-athletes getting a chance to take part in a laser tag team building experience after a group dinner Saturday night.
On Sunday the retreat continued with the conference's fifth annual Special Olympics Bowling event sponsored by WinWon. WinWon's CEO, Alex Hanley was at the event supporting the SUNYAC and more than 50 Special Olympians who participated. This was the most attended event in the last five years with over 135 in attendance. The SUNYAC had a luncheon which included an awards ceremony for the Special Olympians following the bowling games.
The SUNYAC also had presentations set up with several guest speakers for the SAAC members to engage with on Sunday and Monday. Topics included What Comes Next After Your Intercollegiate Experience is Over, Post-Graduate Finance: What Financially Comes Next After You Graduate and Taking Care of Yourself Now and After College Athletics Comes to and End. There was also a career mentor program where athletes were paired up with professionals in several different fields including communications, criminal justice, education, physical therapy, psychology, recreation and sport management.
The weekend provided a unique experience to over 30 student-athletes who attended. The SUNYAC is looking forward to hosting the retreat again in 2027.
